2. Check Your Network
Once you've found the right plan for 2022, be sure to check our Find a Doctor tool to make sure your doctors and hospitals will be in-network.
- When you have a primary care physician (PCP), you have a partner in your health care – someone you see regularly who knows the whole picture of your well-being.
- A primary care physician offers important preventive care including flu shots and other important immunizations for you and your children.
- When your provider is in-network, your out-of-pocket costs are lower.

Finalize Your Health Plan
Once you've chosen your health plan for 2022, the last step is to finalize it by making your January payment.
- If you've selected a new Blue Cross NC plan, and:
- You do not use AutoPay with your current plan: You will need to make your initial payment on BlueCrossNC.com/Pay. Pay by January 1 for your plan to go into effect.
- You use AutoPay with your current plan: It will not automatically transfer to your new plan. You must make your initial premium payment for coverage to begin. After making your first payment, visit Blue Connect to re-establish AutoPay for your new plan.
- If you've decided to keep your renewal health plan, and:
- You use AutoPay: You're all set! Credit cards will be charged January 1 and bank accounts will be drafted January 3. You can view your bill on Blue Connect five days prior to January 1.
- You do not use AutoPay: Your January invoice will arrive mid-December. Your payment is due by January 1 for your 2022 plan to take effect. You can enroll in AutoPay at any time on Blue Connect.
Make a Payment
Note: If you choose a plan after December 15 but before Open Enrollment ends January 15, you will need to make your payment by February 1 for your plan to go into effect February 1. This means you will not have health coverage for the month of January.
